Dell Laptop Chargers

A short collection of chargers that suit Dell laptops. Newer Dell XPS, Latitude and Inspiron models charge over USB-C, and either of our 65W Type-C laptop chargers works for those. For older Dells with a round barrel connector, the 90W universal charger includes the Dell tips along with HP, Asus and Sony and covers 15V to 24V output.

Check your old charger label for wattage and look at the plug: a small oval means USB-C, a round pin means barrel. Dell laptops sometimes need 90W to charge while running heavy loads, so do not go below the original rating. Compatible chargers, not Dell originals. Ships from Sydney, easy returns.

Frequently asked questions

Will a 65W USB-C charger work on my Dell laptop?

Yes, if your Dell has a USB-C charging port and originally shipped with a 45W or 65W adapter, which covers most 13-inch XPS and Latitude models. Larger Dells that came with a 90W or 130W USB-C adapter will charge slowly or show a power warning under load with 65W.

My Dell says the AC adapter type cannot be determined. Is that normal?

Dell barrel chargers carry an identification chip, and some compatible adapters do not communicate with it. The laptop still charges, but may show a message at startup and cap CPU speed while charging. Press F1 to continue or turn off the adapter warning in BIOS. USB-C chargers do not have this issue.

Which tip do I need for a Dell barrel connector?

Most Dell laptops from 2010 onward use the 7.4mm by 5.0mm connector with a centre pin. Older Inspiron and Latitude models used a 5.5mm by 2.5mm barrel. The 90W universal charger includes both. Compare your old plug against the tip guide in the listing before ordering.
