Frequently asked questions

How do I find my MacBook model number?

Turn the laptop over. The regulatory text near the hinge includes a model number starting with A, such as A1502 or A1706. You can also click the Apple menu, choose About This Mac and note the year and screen size. Each charger listing names the A-numbers it suits, so match against that.

Can I use a higher wattage charger on my MacBook?

Yes, with the same connector. A MacBook draws only the power it needs, so an 87W USB-C charger works on a 13-inch MacBook Pro that shipped with 61W. A lower wattage charger will also work but charges slowly under load. MagSafe 2 and USB-C are different connectors and are not interchangeable.

Do the iPhone battery cases support wireless charging?

The smart battery cases charge the phone through the Lightning connector inside the case, and you recharge the case itself by cable. Most do not pass through Qi wireless charging, so remove the phone from the case if you want to use a wireless pad. Check the individual listing for the model you own.
